Pyunkang Yul’s Seoul Bukcheon Hanok Village Flagship Store
Pyunkang Yul is a skincare brand developed by the Pyunkang Eastern Medicine Clinic. With an ingredient-focused and minimal formula, the brand stays connected to the clinic’s 46 years tradition based on an authentic and holistic approach.
FLAGSHIP STORE INFUSED WITH KOREAN CULTURE – the building itself is Western-style, but a lot of the original wooden elements were preserved and they work wonderfully with the Korean Hanok house-style interior design – lots of bright wood and raw stone
MINIMAL MODERN DESIGN BLENDED WITH TRADITIONAL FURNITURE – true to brand DNA, the three floors are filled with traditional Korean furniture such as medical cabinets and chests, and mother-of-pearl inlays, but they are also beautifully worked into the more clean-cut modern design introduced through the renovation project
BRAND ETHOS EXPRESSED THROUGHOUT THE SPACE – the starting point for the brand was traditional Korean medicine and there are old drawings hanging on the walls and displayed on tables, a scale and tea kettles showcased along herbs and roots used in formulation
KIND & WELL-TRAINED CLIENT ADVISORS – I was very warmly welcomed into the store, introduced to the brand, shown around the spaces and encouraged to use the rooftop, even if only to see the beautiful view
NATURE AND ITS HEALING ABILITIES CENTRAL TO THE BRAND EXPERIENCE – the garden, the aforementioned natural ingredients displayed in the basement-level showroom, the view of the surrounding nature from the rooftop, it was present at every touchpoint.
I also like the less-polished atmosphere, as some of the original flooring was preserved. I think it made it very unique and quite different from the Sulwhasoo experience and I encourage anyone visiting the neighborhood to include the flagship in their must-see list.
